• THE CW ANNOUNCES EARLY PICKUPS OF SERIES

   

  “Gossip Girl,” “One Tree Hill,” “90210,” “America’s Next Top Model,” “Smallville” and “Supernatural” To Return Next Season

   

   

  February 24, 2009 (Burbank, California) ?? The CW announced today the early pickups of six series, including five of the network’s signature dramas and the reality hit AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, which will all return in Fall 2009.

   

  “As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” said Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, The CW. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”

   

  Among the series receiving early pickups for next season are The CW’s Monday tandem of sophomore sensation GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL, which combined to lift The CW to become the fall’s #1 network on Monday with women 18-34. Both GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL have scored double-digit gains compared to their previous seasons. Freshman hit 90210 has improved the network’s Tuesday night by double-digit increases in key demos. Wednesday anchor AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, which consistently wins its time period with young women, will also be back with superstar Tyra Banks and new groups of aspiring models for cycles 13 and 14.

   

  Also renewed were the network’s established Thursday team of SMALLVILLE, in its ninth season, and SUPERNATURAL, which after posting ratings growth this season, will enter its fifth season next year.

CASTING FOR CYCLE 13 OF “TOP MODEL” BEGINS FEBRUARY 28

            February 23, 2009 (Burbank, California) — For the first time in TOP MODEL history, Tyra Banks announces that girls must be 5’7” and under in order to become AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL.  After 12 cycles of a minimum height requirement of 5’7” – matching the industry standard – Banks and the casting director of The CW’s hit reality series AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL are searching the U.S. for females, ages 18 to 27, of diverse backgrounds, shapes, sizes and with a height requirement of 5’7” and under.  Cycle 13, featuring models 5’7” and under, premieres in the fall.

“There have been top supermodels in the past that weren’t as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss,” said Banks.  “So we are changing up ‘Top Model’ for cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!”

• Making the switch to DTV! Here's the press release:

WISCONSIN’S CW TO MAKE THE DTV TRANSITION ON FEBRUARY 17

Green Bay, WI – Wisconsin’s CW (Channel 14) will make the DTV transition on Tuesday, February 17^th at 11:59pm, ending our analog signal and broadcasting our programs solely in digital.

“We believe Northeast Wisconsin’s viewers are ready for the DTV transition,” said Steve Shanks, Wisconsin’s CW’s Vice-President and General Manager. “This new DTV technology greatly expands the reach of the station, allowing thousands of households to receive WIWB’s over-the-air signal for the first time. Our DTV signal offers our great programs such as Gossip Girl, 90210, and Smallville in HD with 5.1 surround sound.”

Viewers will still be able to enjoy Wisconsin’s CW over-the-air, but they will need a DTV-ready television, or a television equipped with a DTV converter box. Viewers with cable or satellite providers will not be affected.

Starting at 12:00am on Wednesday, February 18^th, the analog signal for Wisconsin’s CW will inform viewers that the analog signal has ceased airing programming, and will contain information for viewers to be able to watch DTV. This messaging will air for two weeks.

DTV converter boxes are available at electronics retailers throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

New legislation moved the mandatory transition date to June 12^th, but gave stations the option of ceasing analog broadcasting on February 17^th.

Viewers that have questions about receiving the digital signal are invited to call the Wisconsin Call Center at 1-800-422-9707.  The call center’s regular hours are Monday – Thursday from 8:00am - 9:30pm, Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00pm – 6:00pm.  The call center will operate through March 30, 2009.

The center will be open special hours Tuesday, February 17 from 10:00pm till midnight, Wednesday, February 18, Thursday, February 19 and Friday, February 20 from 9:00am -  9:00pm.

For specific information about receiving Wisconsin’s CW, visit the DTV section of www.WisconsinsCW.com. The website contains information about the DTV conversion, and instructions for viewers to best receive Wisconsin’s CW’s digital signal over the air.

• Tonight's DTV test:

  Tonight (Wednesday, Dec 3^rd) the Northeast Wisconsin Broadcasters are joining together to help get the word out about the upcoming DTV transition.

  At 6:10pm, all of the Northeast Wisconsin stations will broadcast a message that will only appear if you're picking up our analog signal.

  The message will simply say, "If you're seeing this, your tv is not DTV ready."

  Helpline phone numbers will then be displayed - and a trained staff will be ready to answer any of your DTV questions.

  There will be dedicated phonelines for Hmong , or people who speak Spanish

  The phone lines will be open from 6-9pm. Those phone numbers will be displayed on all of the Northeast Wisconsin Broadcast stations throughout the night.

• THE CW NETWORK ANNOUNCES MIDSEASON SCHEDULE INCLUDING PREMIERE OF NEW FRIGHT-FILLED

REALITY SERIES “13 – FEAR IS REAL”

AND RETURN OF “REAPER”

December 3, 2008 (Burbank, CA) ?? The CW Network has set its midseason schedule, featuring new episodes of its scripted series and the premiere of the scare-fest reality series “13 – Fear Is Real.”

The CW’s smash hit Monday lineup returns on January 5, with new episodes of sophomore sensation “GOSSIP GIRL” (8:00-9:00p.m. ET), followed by fan favorite “ONE TREE HILL” (9:00-10:00p.m. ET). 

Two freshman series return to the Tuesday lineup on January 6 with new episodes of this season’s most buzzed-about series, “90210” (8:00-9:00p.m. ET), leading into the critical hit “PRIVILEGED” (9:00-10:00p.m. ET). 

The new Wednesday night schedule kicks off on January 7, featuring the premiere of new horror/reality series “13 – FEAR IS REAL” (8:00-9:00p.m. ET), in which 13 people compete to “stay alive” while facing their deepest fears in an all-out elimination competition and scare-fest. An encore performance of “90210” (9:00-10:00p.m. ET) will follow the new series on Wednesday nights.

On Thursday, the heroic team of “SMALLVILLE” (8:00-9:00p.m. ET) and “SUPERNATURAL” (9:00-10:00p.m. ET) will return to The CW’s line-up with new episodes on January 15.

On Friday night, “EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS” (8:00-8:30p.m. ET) and “THE GAME” (8:30-9:00p.m. ET) return to The CW’s comedy block with new episodes on January 9.   Encore performances of “13 – FEAR IS REAL” will begin airing Friday nights on January 9.

The Devil and his minions will be back on the trail of evil-doers when “REAPER” returns to the schedule on Tuesday, March 17 (9:00-10:00p.m. ET).
